Since the last time I've read no more then a chapter of the book People are strange which means I've only read about 41 pages out of 271.
Retell
Well I'm going to cut this part short since the author is long winded and is going on about things totally unrelated to Jim Morrison for about half the chapter (which is a real pain). Basically this chapter is about the Doors first album; The Doors. The author goes over every song on the album in great detail starting with Break on Through (to the other side) and ending with The End. He briefly goes over the story line of every song and how the album is a story. Strangely we learn more about Ray Manzarek (the key borad player) then Jim (since the song Twentieth Centuray Fox is about Manzarek's girlfriend). Lastly the story behind this album starts off about quick relationships and wanting to find sanctuary and ending with caring nothing for sanctuary and heading towards darkness and trying to have slower relathionships. They also meantion drugs here and there (through out the whole album).
Relate
I'm relating Jim's lyrics to himself becuase I know he was a huge drug addict and I guess being an army brat and all would make him long for snactuary as for the women part I'll leave aside. So using this chapter as a comparisson I would still have to say I'm nothing like Jim since I don't do drugs, long for sanctuary or want to throw myself into quick relationships. I really don't have much more to base this comparison off of since the whole chapter was about drugs, sex and sanctuary.
Reflect
Well thanks to this chapter I've been wanting to listen to the album; The Doors to try and hear this story for myself. I also seem to be reflecting over Jim's lyrics since most of the time you can't tell what Jim's saying through his many screams and mumbles. Finally I'm thinking about this author becuase he's so long winded. I mean sure he's talking about the 1960's and L.A. and war (which all realte with Jim in certain ways) but if he's not going to relate Jim to these many off subject things then what's the point of putting them in the book!?!?!?
